About the Role:
The Membership Associate is a project management position within the Field & Member Services department. This position is unique in that this person will work with our historic coalition to develop and strengthen the membership program’s offerings housed in the Field & Member Services department.
This position will report to the Managing Director, Field & Member Services and is part of the collective bargaining unit.
What you will do:
- Assist the department in developing and implementing membership engagement strategies for coalition members regarding direct outreach, relationship management, and programming.
- Lead the implementation of Movement, our new membership portal, and be the first line of response for members.
- Collaborate in the planning and execution of membership committee meetings.
- Participate in membership committee meetings and be involved in the planning of follow-up activities.
- Coordinate with teams across the organization to ensure membership engagement throughout issue area campaigns.
- Ensure accurate communication with stakeholders by maintaining the coalition listing and their contact information.
- Play an active role in ensuring the diversity, growth and success of membership.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- 2-4 years of experience in membership services are required, and in nonprofits is preferred.
- Experience working within or running an online membership or communications portal is preferred.
- A demonstrated commitment to civil and human rights.
- A self-starter and possesses a team and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Experience working with high-level principals.
- Excellent customer service skills or related experience.
- Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders who hold various roles and leadership positions.
- The desire and ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- The ability to manage multiple and complex tasks with an ever-changing workload without ongoing reminders or constant oversight.
- Must be organized and have a proactive approach to the work and be well organized.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
- Aptitude to work independently and in teams.
- Experience utilizing applications, digital tools, and measures for tracking goals and relationship management.
- Ability to assess needed improvements in various communication systems and work across teams to provide solutions.

Salary Range – $65,379.60 – $70,078.32, dependent on years of related experience.

Currently, staff has the option to work from the office or home while we determine our long-term policy on remote and hybrid work. Please note this position is not permanently remote and over time the person filling this role may be required to work on occasion or regularly from the Washington, DC-based office.
