About the Role:

The Senior Manager, Individual Giving & Major Gifts, is a new position that will be central in defining and executing a strategy to grow the major gift and mid-level revenue streams and build a strong pipeline of future major individual donors. This person in this role will be largely responsible for building a mid-level giving and major gifts program for both The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights (our c4 organization) and The Leadership Conference Education Fund (our c3 organization).

This work involves leveraging prospect research, applying Moves Management to set cultivation strategies, and frontline donor management and solicitation for donors who can make donations, emphasizing gifts between $10,000 – $100,000.

The Sr. Manager will report to and collaborate closely with the VP, Development to identify major donors ($100K+) and leadership level donors ($500K+), developing cultivation and solicitation strategies, including advising on moves needed from the President & CEO and programmatic staff and supporting Moves Management tracking. The Sr. Manager will work hand-in-glove with the Manager, Donor Relations, who develops donor communication and cultivation tools and resources, conducts prospect research, evaluates prospect data and capacity ratings, and manages the individual giving Moves Management system for prospects and donors.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for and a strong understanding of the mission of The Leadership Conference and the Education Fund and a proven track record for translating organizational priorities into compelling donor proposals and conversations. We seek a candidate who is driven to build up this newer revenue stream for the organization, can create strong written proposals and materials and is a fearless solicitor and a dedicated team player.

This position is part of the collective bargaining unit.

What you will do:

  • Plans and implements cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of mid-level and major donors.
  • This position will focus heavily on maximizing annual solicitations to secure more donors and upgrade existing donors.
  • Builds the prospect pipeline and donor portfolio for this position and supports building VP, Development, and President & CEO portfolios by leveraging donor research and analytics, crafting cultivation plans, mapping relationships, and assessing the need for new materials or tools.
  • Partner with the Manager, Donor Relations, and Development Operations while collaborating with other departments including, Finance and Sr. Manager, Data in IT.
  • Track and report progress using specific metrics and platforms, including NXT Raiser’s Edge CRM and Monday.com.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and related.

What You Will Bring:

  • A minimum of 6 years of professional experience focused on fundraising, with specific experience in successfully soliciting mid-level and/or major donor-level gifts.
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Experience in an advocacy organization is preferred.
  • Proven track record of planning and initiating successful individual donor fundraising strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proven ability to work effectively with high-net-worth donors.
  • Strong fundraising writing skills, including compelling proposals, warm donor appreciation notes, and clear planning documents.
  • Track record of proficiency with various Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and using a CRM.

Salary Range – $92,823 – $113,096, dependent on years of related experience.
