State Data Director Consultant, Census Counts Campaign


Background: The Leadership Conference Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization that works to build public will for federal policies that promote and protect the civil and human rights of all persons in the United States. It was founded in 1969 as the education and research arm of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the nation’s premier civil and human rights coalition of more than 200 national organizations that work together to advance civil and human rights policies and legislation. The Census Counts campaign is a collaborative campaign involving national organizations and dozens of community partners in more than 45 states working together to make sure that the 2020 Census is fair and accurate—so that our communities do not miss out on the political power they deserve and the resources their communities have earned. This campaign is run by The Leadership Conference Education Fund in collaboration with other key partners. More information about the campaign can be found at CensusCounts.org.

Introduction: The Leadership Conference Education Fund’s Census Counts Campaign is looking for a State Data Director Consultant to work with the campaign to provide strategic advice and support to partner organizations in VAN utilization. The consultant will provide training and support to partners in using digital organizing tools like Hustle and Mobilize.

The consultant will provide real time customer support and troubleshooting for VAN users and committees. They will also execute data hygiene tasks to ensure the highest level of accuracy and the pruning of expired data.

The consultant will be an important part of the Census Counts campaign field team.

Skills and Qualifications:

This contract requires:

  • Two or more cycles of campaign experience
  • In depth experience with NGP VAN
  • Background with digital organizing tools
  • A solid commitment to advancing civil and human rights
  • Proven experience as a consultant or independent contractor
  • Experience with Mobilize, Hustle and other digital organizing tools
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively about deploying the full suite of data tools to advance the mission of a nonprofit
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • A collaborative, dependable self-starter with a record of producing high-quality work
  • Bachelor’s degree

 Compensation:

This is a term limited position with a competitive rate from hire through August.
