WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on Chairman Chuck Grassley’s scheduling of a committee vote for Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for this Friday:

“Chairman Grassley’s decision to schedule a committee vote less than 24 hours after Dr. Christine Blasey Ford testifies shows that he and his fellow Senate Republicans refuse to take the sexual assault allegations seriously. The Senate Republicans continue to denigrate their own role in independently vetting nominees in their panicked rush to confirm a nominee with significant credibility issues.”
