The Leadership Conference, The Education Fund Welcome Berenice Bonilla Cortés as Managing Director of Communications

WASHINGTON – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and its sister organization, The Leadership Conference Education Fund, welcomed Berenice Bonilla Cortés as Managing Director of Communications.

“Berenice brings a strong record of social justice and community-based communications work,” said Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference and The Education Fund. “We are pleased to have her join our team, and we look forward to her contributions to the civil and human rights community.”

Berenice Bonilla Cortés most recently led Bérica Agency, a branding and event design consultancy created to support social justice efforts through strategic communications consulting, community educational events, and charitable giving. During part of her tenure managing the venture, she also served as Director of Communications and Development at YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County.

Prior to her launch of Bérica, she supported and helped expand programming, communications, and operations at Rice University, Unidos US, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, and the Inter American Development Bank. Bonilla Cortés is an alumna of Syracuse University, as well as the University of Southern California, where she completed a Master of Communication Management at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She is also an alumna of The Gifford Foundation’s Nourishing Tomorrow’s Leaders program and Metro DC’s Finest programs.

She serves on the boards of Prospanica DC, the WISE Women’s Business Center, and Nosotros Radio, Inc., and supports the coordination of the WISE Latina conference in New York State, working to propel initiatives that help increase the number of opportunities available to all Americans.
