75th Anniversary

For 75 years, we’ve been fighting the intractable — together.

Rising Up, Marching On

For 75 years, our coalition has risen up to meet injustice—and marched on toward a more fair and just future. While the barriers we face have changed, our commitment remains unshaken: Together, across communities, we fight for a democracy that works for everyone.

Since our founding, forces resistant to change have tried to silence our voices, limit our potential, and deny us access to opportunity. Yet, we have always responded with openness, welcoming new allies, expanding our vision of justice, and winning landmark civil rights victories that protect our loved ones and our communities.

Today, in this challenging moment of renewed threats and deep division, we draw power from our 75-year legacy of courage, resilience, and hope.

Rising up, we march on, undaunted and united, to shape a future worthy of generations to come.

Our History and Legacy

Founded in 1950 by visionary leaders who believed that the fight for civil rights could only be won together, The Leadership Conference is a powerful coalition of diverse voices. From its earliest days, this coalition has coordinated national advocacy efforts that have shaped every major civil rights law since 1957.

As the nation’s oldest, largest, and most diverse civil and human rights coalition, The Leadership Conference continues to serve as a strategic hub for combating discrimination in all its forms. We remain steadfast in our commitment to expanding opportunity, justice, and fairness for all people across America.

For 75 years, we’ve led the fight for equal opportunity and social justice.
