In Florida, Implementation of Electoral Reform Law Will Suppress Minority Voting Rights

A Florida bill, passed last legislative session, presents a direct harm to the voting rights of minorities. If passed, the law would cut down the number of early voting days, implement new requirements for changing one’s name and/or address, and place restrictions on voter registration drives.

Super Committee cuts threaten higher education budget

Higher education may see spending cuts to federal student aid in the 2012-2013 school year. The cuts, which are estimated to be around 7.8 percent, are estimated to affect 86 percent of undergraduate students who rely on financial aid and funding for research.
