First Female Commandant of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School

Big ups to Col. Gwen Bingham who will be promoted to brigadier general and become the first woman commandant of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School where she will train more than 20,000 military students per year.

As often happens when one breaks through the glass ceiling, Col. Bingham underplays her accomplishment:

“It’s really not about me. . . . I don’t really look at it from the historical side,” she said. “It’s indeed an honor for me to be the first, but I just feel privileged and honored to be a part of a team with all the men and women that have served with me in the past and continue to serve here with me at Fort Lee.”

Make no mistake, it is a big deal.  For the millions of little girls who never thought they could do something similar, it is a very big deal.

Congrats to Col. Bingham.
