To LGBT Youth: It Does Get Better

By now I’m sure people have heard of the great “It Gets Better” video campaign that columnist Dan Savage and his partner, Terry, have started in the wake of suicides by LGBT youth who had been subjected to taunting, ridicule, and harassment.

My favorite video in the series so far?

The awesome Tim Gunn:

What I love about this particular video is that you can see hints of how uncomfortable Tim Gunn is at sharing something so personal about his life.  And yet, you also see that he knows that the only way to help those countless, nameless LGBT youth out there is to push through that uncomfortable feeling and connect directly to what they are feeling and experiencing.

Often, the right thing to do – the best thing to do – is the very thing that is most scary and uncomfortable.
