The Leadership Conference and The Education Fund Expand Staff
WASHINGTON – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and its sister organization, The Leadership Conference Education Fund, announced the addition of two new staff members: Gabrielle C. Sherb, vice president for development and Leigh M. Chapman, director of the voting rights program.
“As The Leadership Conference continues to expand, we gladly welcome two highly talented new additions to the team,” said Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference and The Education Fund. “Leigh and Gabrielle’s expertise demonstrates that they will play an integral role in the fight to protect civil and human rights for all.”
Gabrielle Sherb is the vice president of development, leading the team cultivating funding for The Leadership Conference and The Education Fund. Sherb has over a decade of experience building and leading annual and major gift fundraising programs in advocacy organizations. Previously, Sherb was with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), where she served in a variety of development roles and was director of development for the New York and Washington, D.C., regions. In these roles she implemented and executed campaign strategy, including board management, special events and major and annual donor societies, increasing the number of donors and revenue in both categories. Sherb received her Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Administration from the Baruch College Marxe School of Public Affairs and is a graduate of Binghamton University. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Leigh M. Chapman is director of the voting rights program, overseeing projects that advocate voting protections for marginalized people. Previously, Chapman was Senior Policy Advisor at Let America Vote, where she advised the organization on election law and policy issues at the state and federal levels. Before that, she was appointed director of policy for the Pennsylvania Department of State by Governor Tom Wolf, where she managed the department’s policy and regulatory development process in coordination with the Governor’s Office of Policy in the program areas of charities, corporations, elections and professional licensure. Chapman began her civil rights career at Advancement Project where she served as a staff attorney in the Voter Protection Program. Chapman graduated from the University of Virginia earning a B.A. in American Studies and History and received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law.
