WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference Education Fund, issued the following statement on the census funding included in the Continuing Resolution (CR):

“The House and Senate have rightly recognized the importance of a fair and accurate census. Now, the Census Bureau must use its resources to ensure that outcome by deploying activities to reach hard-to-count communities, taking steps to boost the number of qualified applicants, and implementing a robust communications plan and cybersecurity measures. But the clock is ticking, and Congress must pass a full-year appropriation before the Continuing Resolution expires on December 20. The census is unique; there is no room in the schedule to delay final preparations or the launch of peak operations. A lack of timely funding would harm the count. Through our Census Counts campaign, and alongside our allies, we will stay focused on making sure everyone is counted so that all of our country’s communities get the representation and resources they deserve.”
