WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement regarding the House of Representatives’ decision to delay the vote on the NO BAN Act:

“The House’s decision to delay the vote on this crucial legislation is a serious disappointment to the civil and human rights community. We understand the Coronavirus package must get done immediately, but it is always the right time to reject indiscriminate profiling and xenophobia. No family deserves to be separated because of xenophobia, and we anticipate hate and anti-immigrant sentiment will rise in the face of this global pandemic. We fully expect the House to keep its promise to immediately reschedule the NO BAN Act vote.”
