WASHINGTON Wade Henderson, interim president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement on the Senate’s vote to confirm Judge Lucy Koh to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit:

“Judge Koh’s even-handed approach to the law makes her an excellent addition to the Ninth Circuit. As a district court judge, she has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to understand and protect the rights of all people. Judge Koh will also be the first Korean American woman to serve on a federal appellate court. Public trust in the judiciary is bolstered when judges who look like and care about us are able to serve, and we are pleased Judge Koh will continue to strengthen our judiciary with her commitment to equal justice.”
