WASHINGTONLena Zwarensteyn, senior director of the fair courts program at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Cindy Chung to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit:

“We applaud the Senate for confirming Cindy Chung to serve on the Third Circuit. Ms. Chung brings to the Third Circuit her extensive experience enforcing our important civil rights laws and protecting and defending people and communities who have experienced horrific hate crimes. She also makes history as the first Asian American judge to serve on this court. This professional and personal diversity is crucial as it strengthens our judiciary and improves judicial decision-making.”
