The Leadership Conference Filed an Amicus Brief in Obergefell v. Hodges
On March 6, 2015, The Leadership Conference filed a brief in support of the Petitioners, arguing that marriage is a fundamental right and that the Due Process Clause prohibits states from impeding same-sex marriage, but also that all laws that discriminate based on sexual orientation—including laws impeding same-sex marriage—are constitutionally suspect and subject to heightened scrutiny under the Equal Protection Clause.
