Senate Rejects Trump’s Zealous Immigration Priorities

WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement after the Senate soundly rejected proposals that would have enacted President Trump’s extremist immigration priorities:

“We applaud the Senate for rejecting President Trump’s extremist immigration priorities today. Lawmakers must work on a bipartisan basis to protect Dreamers. And Trump should stop blocking efforts to enact meaningful, commonsense changes to our nation’s immigration laws. He created this unnecessary crisis, and he should stop preventing lawmakers from fixing his mistakes.”
