WASHINGTON – Wade Henderson, interim president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement after the conclusion of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee as part of the hearing to consider her nomination to be an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court:

“Over the last three days, the nation witnessed what we have known — Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson will be a justice for all of us. When she is confirmed to serve as our next associate justice of the Supreme Court, we will be well-served by her brilliance, her thoughtful and thorough approach to the law, and her stellar judicial temperament. Judge Jackson’s passion for public service shone through, and we heard just how consequential and historic this moment is. She is clearly the right person for this job, and this hearing has proven that to our country.

“Her confirmation will be a critical step toward a federal judiciary that reflects our communities and lives up to its promise of equal justice under law. The nation is counting on the Senate to swiftly confirm Judge Jackson.”

The Leadership Conference, joined by 186 national organizations, released a letter urging the Senate to confirm Judge Jackson as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Henderson will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday in support of Judge Jackson’s nomination.
