The Leadership Conference Joins an Amicus Brief in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine
On January 29, 2024, The Leadership Conference joined an amicus brief in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, urging the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse the judgment of the Fifth Circuit and protect access to mifepristone, a safe and effective medication used in medication abortion. The brief represents the shared interest of the undersigned organizations in ensuring all individuals have access to reproductive health care services and resources necessary to support autonomy in every stage of life. It also recognizes that the impacts and burdens of a decision limiting access to this medication will fall hardest on communities most impacted by systemic racism and other forms of oppression and already facing barriers to care, including Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, people with low incomes, LGBTQ+ people, young people, immigrants, people with disabilities, people living in rural areas, and people living at the intersection of these identities.
