“The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) urges the Senate to move expeditiously to confirm all four of President Obama’s nominees to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) so that the commission, which risks losing a quorum in December, can continue its vital work of protecting all American workers from employment discrimination without interruption.

As demonstrated by their confirmation hearing this morning before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), the nominees — Jacqueline A. Berrien for Chair, Chai R. Feldblum and Victoria A. Lipnic for Commissioners, and P. David Lopez for general counsel — possess the skills, backgrounds, and experience to make them exceptionally well prepared and well qualified to serve at the EEOC.

LCCR wholeheartedly endorses each of these nominees and is confident that they will exercise their authority thoughtfully while providing the necessary leadership to guide the federal government’s enforcement of employment discrimination protections and equal employment opportunity programs.”
