No Reason Why Millions of Cable Consumers Should Start Off the New Year Tomorrow Without Access to Important News

“There’s no reason why millions of cable consumers across the country should start off the New Year tomorrow without access to important news and emergency information provided by local FOX affiliates. Even if Time Warner Cable (TWC) and the News Corporation, which owns the FOX stations, are unable to strike a deal by midnight tonight, the two companies should at least agree that these consumers – who include large numbers of African Americans, Latinos and seniors in the markets in question – should continue to receive the programming that they’ve come to rely on. We support the efforts of Sen. John Kerry to protect these consumers and the public interest, and we hope that negotiators for both companies will carefully consider the practical suggestions he has made to keep FOX programming available while a new agreement is worked out.”
