Washington, DC –On Wednesday, January 5th at 11:00 A.M. ET,
civil and human rights organizations will announce the formation of Americans
for Constitutional Citizenship, a diverse coalition dedicated to
preserving the constitutional guarantee of American citizenship to every person
born in the United States. A state legislator and a distinguished
constitutional scholar will join several coalition leaders on a press call to
discuss the need to preserve the integrity of 14th Amendment, the
cornerstone of American civil rights and the foundation of American identity.

A group of state legislators is expected to
propose legislation tomorrow to subvert the longstanding guarantees of the 14th
Amendment. Legislation that aims to undermine the citizenship of certain
Americans is unconstitutional and un-American.

The launch of
Americans for Constitutional Citizenship, a diverse coalition of civil and
human rights organizations dedicated to preserving the integrity of American
citizenship for those born in the U.S. This coalition will oppose all
legislation at the state and federal level that would subvert the citizenship
guarantees of the 14th Amendment.

The coalition’s
members include: The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, ACLU,
NAACP, Center for American Progress, Asian American Justice Center, Southern
Poverty Law Center, the Opportunity Agenda, and more.
