Civil Rights Groups Call for Senate Committee to Advance Debo Adegbile Nomination to Civil Rights Post

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, February 5th, the leaders of civil rights, disability rights, women’s rights, and law enforcement organizations hosted a press call urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to forward the nomination of Debo Adegbile for Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice to the full Senate.

Adegbile is one of the nation’s leading civil rights attorneys.  In addition to a lengthy resume in corporate law, the U.S. Senate, and at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, he has argued two of the most important civil rights cases of the 21st century when he twice defended the Voting Rights Act in the Supreme Court.
