Press Call Thursday: Wisconsin Communities Urge Senator Johnson to Support Criminal Justice Reform
MADISON, Wis. – On Thursday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. CT/11:00 a.m. ET, Wisconsin civil rights and religious advocates will host a press call urging their senator, Ron Johnson, to support the bipartisan Sentencing reform and Corrections Act.
The bill, which would implement urgently needed reforms to the nation’s criminal justice system, was voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee four months ago. It has support from conservatives, liberals, and community advocates from across Wisconsin, but Senator Johnson has not yet joined his colleagues as a bill co-sponsor or even announced his support. The bill provides a rare moment of bipartisan consensus on the critical issue of criminal justice reform, and advocates are urging Johnson to take action.
