Press Call Tonight: Legal and Civil Rights Groups Respond to Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee
WASHINGTON – Civil rights groups will hold a press conference call tonight at approximately 8:15 pm EST immediately after President Trump announces his nominee for the Supreme Court. Americans expect presidents to appoint justices of the highest character who are fair-minded and independent, as President Obama did when he chose Judge Merrick Garland to fill the current vacancy. Trump, who outsourced his short-list to extreme groups like the Heritage Foundation, is expected to choose nominee who is out of the mainstream and likely to promote a far-right agenda that runs counter to our constitutional values.
Civil rights leaders will discuss the nominee and why the Senate must uphold its constitutional duty by fully and carefully vetting the fitness of the nominee to sit on the Supreme Court.
RSVP is requested to [email protected].
