Trump Seeks to Incite Hate and Violence with Fake ‘Crisis’
WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement after President Donald Trump delivered remarks on his manufactured crisis at the southern border:
“As the fires of hate smolder in the United States, once again we find the president with matches in one hand and lighter fluid in the other. Donald Trump’s rhetoric is a clear extension of his agenda to dehumanize and criminalize immigrants. Trump’s actions are dangerous and incite violence. Instead of healing a nation reeling from horrific acts motivated by hate and bigotry, Trump continues to use fear, misinformation, and race-baiting to justify family incarceration and a costly, dangerous, and politically-motivated decision to send armed troops to confront vulnerable children and families at the southern border days before the election. The civil rights community is united with people of good conscience and will use all of the tools at our disposal to protect the civil and human rights of all.”
The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is a coalition charged by its diverse membership of more than 200 national organizations to promote and protect the rights of all persons in the United States.
