WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s submission of his report to Attorney General William Barr:

“No one, not even a president, is above the law. And the American public must have confidence that their elections are fair and free from undue foreign influence. Accordingly, Attorney General Barr must make the report available to Congress and the public. Just this month, a unanimous, bipartisan House of Representatives called for the report to be public. This is not just about protecting civil and human rights and upholding the rule of law – this is about restoring trust in our elections and shining light on potential crimes and corruption that threatens our democracy. The people and their elected representatives deserve the truth.”

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is a coalition charged by its diverse membership of more than 200 national organizations to promote and protect the rights of all persons in the United States.
