WASHINGTON – Kristine Lucius, executive vice president for policy and government affairsat The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on the Senate’s vote to advance the nomination of Patrick Wyrick to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma:

Senate Republicans continue their assault on the integrity of our courts at an even more rapid pace. Their agenda is crystal clear: By rushing through Wyrick’s nomination without scrutiny, they are hoping to hide his anti-civil rights record. President Trump is trying to transform our federal judiciary into a political arm to protect the wealthy and powerful, while denying hard-fought rights for our most vulnerable. Senators must reject Wyrick’s nomination to protect the courts and civil and human rights for all.”

The Leadership Conference’s letter in opposition to the confirmation of Patrick Wyrick is available here.
