WASHINGTON – Kristine Lucius, executive vice president for policy and government affairs at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on the Senate’s vote to confirm Joseph Bianco to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit:
“Joseph Bianco’s confirmation marks the third time in history that the Senate has confirmed a judicial nominee over the objection of both home-state senators. The Senate majority’s disregard for their fellow Senate colleagues, and for the people of New York who elected them, is fueled by partisan determination to stack our courts with nominees who will disregard the civil and human rights of us all. Our children, families, and communities will live with these consequences for decades to come.”
