WASHINGTON – Kristine Lucius, executive vice president for policy and government affairs at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on the Senate’s vote to advance the nomination of Daniel Bress to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit:

“Daniel Bress is the third nominee this year alone to be advanced by the Senate to the Ninth Circuit over the objection of both home-state senators, in part, because he is unacquainted with the California legal community. A D.C. lawyer who has devoted his legal career primarily to defending large corporations who were accused of making harmful products, Bress is a disappointing choice for this role. But Trump and Senate Republicans are determined to mold the Ninth Circuit into a panel of young conservative ideologues who will rubber stamp their agenda and go to great lengths to do so. The Senate must reject the Bress nomination.”
