WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on the final rule to overturn the Flores settlement:
“With this administration, there is no bottom. They just go lower and lower. Mere days following their heinous public charge rule, the administration has moved to deny basic human rights protections to migrants. The rule change allows DHS to incarcerate children and families indefinitely – in facilities with demonstrated track records of putting them directly in harm’s way. The rule must be overturned immediately.”
