Turn Up Tuesdays to Highlight Importance of Voting and Activism at HBCUs

WASHINGTON – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and All Voting is Local, with its joint And Still I Vote campaign, will host a Facebook Live event today, October 13, at 5:30 p.m. EDT to discuss the rich history of activism at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and how students continue to fight for access to the ballots and the right to vote.

These events are part of Turn Up Tuesdays, a weekly national call to action to make sure people are informed and activated to vote in the general election. Turn Up Tuesdays is dedicated to ensuring that the general election is not characterized by the disarray that voters experienced across the country during the primaries, in states like Wisconsin and Georgia.

Turn Up Tuesday Facebook Live Event – Throughout history, HBCUs have served as a hub for student activism. Voting rights advocates will convene with students to discuss how HBCU communities have impacted past and present struggles and how students can make a plan to vote before November 3.
