WASHINGTON Wade Henderson, interim president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 1333, the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants Act (NO BAN Act):

“Donald Trump’s Muslim and African bans devastated communities and ripped families apart by prohibiting individuals from immigrating to the United States from majority Muslim nations in Africa and Asia. Today, the House of Representatives took an important step by rejecting the previous administration’s bigoted agenda. We urge the Senate to protect Black and Brown immigrants from discrimination by passing the NO BAN Act to ensure no president can ever enact such a sweeping, xenophobic ban ever again.”
