WASHINGTONLena Zwarensteyn, senior director of the fair courts program at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement on the Senate’s confirmation of Jessica Clarke to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York:

“Jessica Clarke is eminently qualified to serve on this court. As a civil rights lawyer, she has worked to ensure equal access to the ballot box, hold police officers accountable, and challenge discriminatory housing practices. Clarke’s long-overdue confirmation is also an important step towards ensuring that our federal courts reflect and represent the diversity of our nation, and we commend those senators who supported her confirmation.”
