WASHINGTON – Lena Zwarensteyn, senior director of the fair courts program at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Tiffany Cartwright to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington:

“Tiffany Cartwright’s career has centered around upholding and protecting the rights of all people. As a civil rights lawyer, she has helped exonerate an innocent man, defended working people who endured racial discrimination, and held police officers accountable for their misconduct. The kind of professional experience and strong commitment to equal justice she will bring to the bench is much needed and our federal judiciary will be stronger with her service on the court. We applaud the senators who supported her confirmation.”
