About the Role:
We are looking for a Digital & Social Media Associate to support a broad range of digital and social media initiatives across the organization. Specifically, this person will help draft content and toolkits and create campaign strategies to support the mission and programmatic work of The Leadership Conference. Success in this role includes creating creative content, working collaboratively across the department and organization, and pitching new, innovative ideas to help amplify the programmatic issues the organization fights for daily.
This position will report to the Director, Digital and is part of the collective bargaining unit.
What you will do:
- Coordinates and creates a first draft of social media content for The Leadership Conference @CivilRightsOrg channels including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and written ideas for YouTube and TikTok video platforms.
- Under the guidance of the supervisor, drafts digital and social media tool kits for coalition members on top campaigns the organization is driving.
- Maintain and populate the digital and social media editorial calendar, working with other members of the Communications team leading campaigns.
- Maintain the email and texting calendar, working with the Director, Digital.
- Organize and edit monthly metrics reports produced by various Digital and Social Media team members.
- Serves as the staff representative at cross-organizational meetings.
- Other projects and duties as necessary and assigned.
What you will bring:
- A minimum of 2 years of digital and social media experience is required, and in nonprofits is preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
- Passion for civil and human rights and social justice issues.
- Experience working on social media campaigns and platforms.
- Creative and innovative ideas in creating digital and social media campaigns.
- Ability to quickly synthesize and distill large quantities of complex policy and/or issue-related information.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
- Utilizes collaborative tools such as Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack, and more.
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Photography, video/audio editing, and/or graphic design skills are preferred.

Salary Range – $65,379.60 – $70,078.32, dependent on years of related experience.

Please note this position is not permanently remote and over time the person filling this role may be required to work on occasion or regularly from the Washington, DC-based office.
