Turn Up Tuesdays Arrives in Pennsylvania to Confront Disruptions to June 2 Primary

PHILADELPHIA - All Voting is Local and The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, in conjunction with its joint And Still I Vote℠ campaign, will host events this week to urge Pennsylvania officials to ensure a free, fair and safe primary on June 2. Pennsylvania voters will face a series of barriers to the ballot due to last-minute changes amid COVID-19 and protests across the country, including sudden polling place changes, reduced public transportation accessibility, heavy National Guard presence, and confusing rules about voting by mail.

400+ Civil Rights Organizations Urge Congressional Action on Police Violence

WASHINGTON – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and 400 other civil rights organizations today called on congressional leadership to swiftly rectify the legacy of white supremacy and anti-black racism that has led to police violence against Black people across our country. The group requested a meeting with congressional leadership to discuss urgently needed reforms that ensure police officers live up to their oath to protect and serve all people in the United States.

Civil Rights Groups Urge Minneapolis Leaders to Keep Communities Safe

WASHINGTON – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and leading civil rights groups today called on the mayor of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Police Department chief to keep communities safe and restore trust between police and the communities they serve. The letter was sparked by the recent police killing of George Floyd and subsequent militarized response to local demonstrations, with the groups urging leaders to use this moment as an opportunity to grapple with the ongoing legacy of white supremacy and police violence in communities of color and to re-examine their approach to public safety.

ST. LOUIS – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and All Voting is Local, with its joint campaign And Still I Vote℠, will partner with the Missouri Voter Protection Coalition to hold multiple events this week to mobilize voters and urge officials across the country to ensure fair, safe, and accessible elections in 2020. This event is a part of Turn Up Tuesdays, a weekly national call to action to ensure people are informed and activated to vote in November.
