The Leadership Conference joins an Amicus Brief in INS v. Enrico St. Cyr

On March 27, 2001, The Leadership Conference joined The Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, et al., in support of Respondent, arguing the retroactive elimination of INA Section 212(c) would be a radical change in immigration law affecting a wide range of lawful permanent residents that would require the deportation of valuable members of society, and that the elimination of 212(c) relief for permanent residents with pre-AEDPA convictions would convert the possibility of deportation into mandatory deportation, even for individuals with minor crimes.
