On August 20, 2o2o, The Leadership Conference joined an amicus brief in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia, which argues that were the Supreme Court to require Philadelphia to enter into foster services contracts with private entities— but without enforcing the city’s standard antidiscrimination provisions—it would not only open the door to discrimination against prospective foster parents who are same-sex couples to the detriment of vulnerable children, but could also undermine antidiscrimination provisions broadly included in government contracting, including on the basis of race, national origin, and other characteristics.
