The Leadership Conference Filed an Amicus Brief in US v. Miller, US v. Mullet
On August 27, 2014 and on June 26, 2014, The Leadership Conference filed a brief joining the Center for Individual Rights, et al., advocating that punishment of a defendant’s beliefs, no matter how morally reprehensible, violates the First Amendment. In addition, requiring a causal connection between defendants’ biased religious attitudes and impermissible behavior against another ensures that the law targets conduct, not an individual’s religious stance.
