Honorable Henry Cisneros

Cisneros served as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development during the first Clinton Administration, initiating a major revitalization of many of the nation’s public housing developments, and formulating policies that have contributed to today’s record homeownership rate.

Honorable Hamilton Fish, Jr.

Representing New York’s 19th Congressional District, Fish retired at the end of 1994 for health reasons – culminating a quarter-century in the House. Fish was a rare liberal Republican on such social issues as civil rights, gun control, and abortion counseling, and a supporter of more-traditional Republican issues, such as the balanced-budget amendment.

Elaine Jones

President and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF), a national leader in the advancement of civil rights, Jones led a landmark United States Supreme Court case that abolished the death penalty in 37 states; was instrumental in reshaping the federal judiciary to include more people of color and more judges committed to equal rights; and helped secure passage of the Voting Rights Act Amendments of 1982, the Fair Housing Act of 1988, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1988, and the Civil Rights Act of 1991.
