WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on the bipartisan passage by the House of Representatives of a resolution to terminate President Trump’s “national emergency” declaration:

“This bipartisan disapproval of Trump’s vanity project is an affirmation of the Constitution. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle put country over party in stopping Trump’s power grab. We urge the Senate to now vote to send a clear and patriotic message to Trump: all of us, including the president, must respect the rule of law.”

Earlier today, The Leadership Conference sent a letter urging representatives to support the resolution.
