WASHINGTON – Kristine Lucius, executive vice president for policy and government affairs at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on the Senate’s vote to confirm Michael Truncale to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas:

“Senate Republicans are rolling back our rights and freedoms by pushing through unqualified, extremist, and partisan ideologues to lifetime appointments on the federal bench. Truncale’s record demonstrates clear hostility to basic civil and human rights protections, and his confirmation only further politicizes our federal courts. He clearly lacks the ability to serve as a fair-minded judge, and senators who voted yes should be ashamed.”
