WASHINGTON – Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on Facebook’s announcement on additional steps they are taking to protect “the integrity of the election by fighting foreign interference, misinformation and voter suppression”:

“We are seeing unprecedented attacks on legitimate, reliable, and secure voting methods designed to delegitimize the election. These are important steps for Facebook to take to combat disinformation and the premature calling of election results before every vote is counted. The Leadership Conference will continue to press Facebook and other social media platforms to take every possible step to protect a free and fair election and our imperiled democracy.”
