WASHINGTON – Wade Henderson, interim president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement after the Senate’s cloture vote for the nomination of Eunice Lee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit:
“Eunice Lee has the crucial experience needed to create a more equal justice system. Lee dedicated her career to service as a public defender where she advocated for and protected the rights of people involved in the criminal-legal system who cannot afford an attorney. We need judges whose experience and perspective help all of us, not just the powerful few, and she will bring that to our courts. We urge the Senate to swiftly confirm Lee.”
