WASHINGTON – Wade Henderson, interim president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the below statement following the Senate’s vote to confirm Margaret Strickland to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico:
“Margaret Strickland’s background as a public defender and her commitment to pursuing equal justice for all will bring a much-needed perspective to the district court. We know that judicial decision-making is improved by diversifying the bench, and we are pleased that President Biden and the Senate are prioritizing the confirmation of judges with diverse professional and personal experience. We applaud Senators Heinrich and Luján for their support in the selection of Strickland and the full Senate for confirming this important nomination.”
