WASHINGTON – Wade Henderson, interim president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement after the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on the nomination of Judge Lucy Koh to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit:
“Judge Koh’s significant experience as a fair-minded adjudicator and her commitment to equal justice will make her an excellent addition to the Ninth Circuit. As a district court judge, she has had an even-handed approach to the law and has protected the rights of all of us, including in her decisions to protect the integrity of the U.S. census. If confirmed, she would make history as the first Korean American woman to serve on a federal appellate court. The Senate should confirm her immediately.”
