The Leadership Conference Welcomes New Executive Vice President of Communications
The move bolsters The Leadership Conference’s executive leadership team that leads its efforts to protect and advance civil and human rights.  

WASHINGTONThe Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and The Leadership Conference Education Fund announced today that Eunic Epstein-Ortiz has joined the organizations as the new executive vice president of communications.

“It is with excitement that we announce Eunic to our team,” said Maya Wiley, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference and The Education Fund. “Eunic is a seasoned communicator who has spent her career working towards a more open and just society. Her decades-long experience will be vital in our fight to protect the civil and human rights of all people.”

Image: Eunic Epstein-OrtizEunic Epstein-Ortiz is a nationally recognized communications advisor and activist dedicating her career to social justice fights for more than 15 years. For nearly a decade of her career, she worked with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and its locals as a high-level communications strategist fighting for some of our most marginalized communities. Her work has included leading campaigns to expand voting rights for returning citizens, passing Amendment 2 which will raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour in Florida, and engaging infrequent Black, Latino, and API voters through year round organizing efforts.

Epstein-Ortiz has been part of the fight for LGBTQ+ civil rights for her entire career. She received several recognitions for her work, including 25 Most Remarkable Women in New York City and 10 People Making a Difference from Politico New York. 

Before joining SEIU, Epstein-Ortiz was a communications strategist at FleishmanHillard, where she provided strategic counsel for a broad range of clients. Her experience spanned government relations, crisis reputation management, media/influencer relations, social and digital communication, as well as online optimization.

Her career began in New York City working as a spokesperson and digital manager for then-City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

Originally from Florida’s West Coast, she currently resides in St. Petersburg, Florida with her wife, Eve.
