WASHINGTON –The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, The Leadership Conference Education Fund, and National Women’s Law Center, along with 67 national, state, and local organizations, filed a “friend of the court” brief today urging the Supreme Court to uphold the rights of workers against discrimination by religious employers.
WASHINGTON – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and its sister organization, The Leadership Conference Education Fund, welcomed Becky Monroe as director, and Iman Boukadoum as senior manager, of the Fighting Hate and Bias program; and Charmaine Riley as a communications manager. The Fighting Hate and Bias program combats hate and bigotry, advances immigrant rights, and supports community leaders and advocates who have long been leading these fights.
WASHINGTON – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and All Voting is Local are launching “And Still I Vote,” a national call to action to overcome discriminatory barriers to voting. Inspired by the late Maya Angelou’s acclaimed poem “And Still I Rise,” the national campaign will spotlight tactics some government officials use to erect barriers to the voting booth. These anti-democratic efforts most typically target people of color, people with limited English proficiency, young voters, people with disabilities, and other groups historically excluded from our political process. “And Still I Vote” will highlight stories of resistance and resilience from historically disenfranchised communities, while providing practical tools to fight back.

WASHINGTON – Senator Chris Coons, former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, and civil rights advocates hosted a telephonic press call today to urge the Senate to reject Andrew Brasher’s nomination to the Eleventh Circuit. The full Senate is scheduled to vote on his confirmation tomorrow afternoon.
WASHINGTON – On Monday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. ET, civil rights and voting rights experts will host a telephonic press call to bring attention to Andrew Brasher’s nomination ahead of his scheduled Senate cloture vote that afternoon. The full Senate is expected to vote on his confirmation on Tuesday.
