The Senate should provide relief to millions devastated by the pandemic, not recklessly press forward with a hearing for a nominee who could strip health care access for millions of people.

WASHINGTON – In reaction to comments by Trump in recent weeks, members of white nationalist gangs seemingly feel emboldened to commit more acts of violence to interfere with the election. In response to this threat, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and 56 other national and state organizations urged U.S. Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray to protect Americans from the threat of white supremacists as early in-person voting continues in several states.

Washington, DC, October 7, 2020 – 121 civil rights groups and allies, including NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, and the National Women’s Law Center condemn the Executive Order on Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping issued by President Trump on September 22, 2020. The Executive Order is a blatant effort to perpetuate and codify a deeply flawed and skewed version of American history.

WASHINGTON — The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, joined by 149 other organizations, today urged the Senate to oppose the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to serve as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. The letter reflects the broad range of problematic issues in Judge Barrett’s record – from health care and reproductive rights to criminal justice and LGBTQ rights – underscoring the rights at risk with this Supreme Court vacancy. The letter also highlights the irresponsible and shameful process by which Leader McConnell is trying to rush this nomination through.
